This intensive two-day session will really put you through your presentation paces.
DAY ONE
In the morning, we review the kinds of presentations everybody gives and share experiences
of presenting, good and bad. We look at some of the familiar ways in which presentations fail
and ways to counter them. One of the key elements here is Storytelling. Human beings naturally
tell each other stories all the time, but in a presentation situation we start reading off
bullet points instead. This session will give us stronger, more powerful tools to use instead.
After lunch, each person presents for the rest of the group, and we analyse the choices
that have been made in terms of structure, emphasis, tone, and so on. We look at which slides
are adding to the audience's experience and which are redundant or distracting. Each person
has their presentation reshaped according to the morning's principles of storytelling, and
the process becomes clearer and clearer.
DAY TWO
Over night, each participant makes whatever changes to their presentation they deem necessary
and now we look at what great presenters are doing to "sell" their content. How do they stand?
How do they move? How do they convince us that they are full of confidence, believe every word
they are saying, and are relishing the process of sharing it with us? Again, once the basic principles
are understood, each person gets individual coaching and feedback to enable them to make the
best, most appropriate use of these techniques.
OUTCOMES
Participants leave the workshop with a far stronger idea of what giving a presentation is all
about and what's necessary to give a great, inspiring and memorable one. They have had a complete
presentation reworked by an expert and have seen the process on others so they can apply the principles
themselves.
