A year-long course in improvisation, transforming the communication and presentation skills of leaders, managers, rainmakers, presenters.
In a boardroom, somewhere in London, a man waits anxiously as his technical team sets up the laptop with the brand-new presentation software installed.
This pitch is the big one. It has got to go well. Luckily, he's put in the extra effort, and his team has made sure that he's backed up with the best, newest, most modern, and most up-to-date software available.
Why is it taking so long?
And now the client seems to be getting restless. How much longer before he's ready to begin? Just a minute he reassures them, but at that moment, one of his technical team creeps in, with a crestfallen expression. "We can't get it to work," he admits.
Our hero knows that even a few months ago, he would have been near to panic - he would have been flustered, filled with apologies, promised to come back another day when they had it sorted out.
Today, he just laughs.
He reassures the client that he doesn't need all of those whistles and bells anyway. "Let me tell you some stories about the kind of work we do," he says.
They talk for an hour and a half, and the next day he gets a call. "We're giving you the business," says the client, "your pitch was great, but we loved that we'd seen you relaxed in a crisis."
He congratulates his team, and then he calls us at The Spontaneity Shop. His easy grace under pressure, and ability to improvise is all thanks to The Year of Living Dangerously.
“I met a number of people, spurred on by this programme, a particularly successful meeting led to them giving us a piece of work on a complex project and has led to approx £1.25 million of work over the last 12 months.”
The first Year of Living Dangerously is scheduled to begin in January. For more information about the programme, contact us by email or by filling in the form below or choose one of the following sections.
“I have to say, in nearly 25 years of retailing I have not been on a more insightful, enlightening and enjoyable training session. Very well done!” - Retail manager
