For many people, giving formal presentations is sheer torture. Some surveys have found that people fear public speaking more than death itself! As theatre people, we know what great performances look like, but as improvisation coaches we also know how to deal with those fears and anxieties, and we have a few extra ingredients to bring to the table too...
More and more we are hearing from top professionals that their expertise is now taken as read, and so they and their team have to pitch for work that once would have been theirs automatically. These pitches are often very stressful, which means ideas aren't shared in a happy, collaborative atmosphere, the pitch is constructed in order to accommodate everyone's wishes (what has happened to the client?) and delivered in a state of tension, which does not leave the right impression.
Not every presentation is a multi-million-pound pitch, but the horror of even having to present a short report back to one's team creates the same result: a dull presentation, presented without flair, and often heavily-reliant on PowerPoint.
If you are arguing over content in your team, or you can't come up with any ideas to lift this presentation above the norm, may we suggest that your team attends a Creativity Key session - perhaps followed by a facilitated "brain hurricane" around the topic at hand?
If the content of your presentations just seem like one slide after another, without any narrative to drive it forward, then your people need The Cake Factor. Gain valuable insights into how stories work and learn how your audience processes what you are saying.
If your presentation is fine on paper, but in the room you are sweating and panicking, or you keep getting the feedback that you don't make any personal impact, then The Charisma Key will help you find your inner George Clooney or Oprah Winfrey.
And if you want the whole package, including material on proper use of PowerPoint, how to get their attention from the moment you step in the room, how to deal with awkward questions and how to turn presentations from a chore to a joy, then we have a complete Presentations Package which draws on elements from all three of the above sessions.
We also offer a pitch-coaching service wherein one of our trainers will assist at any or all stages of your pitch, from initial brain-storming, through content writing to final slick, happy and impactful presentation.
“It was a resounding success and hit all the right notes for the team.” - Project manager
