Our work on charisma and personal impact has given us a huge number of insights on what makes a really effective leader - the kind of person that people want to do things for.
Much of this work is found in our Charisma Key workshop. There, attendees learn to develop a high-impact, charming, powerful and charismatic version of themselves - a set of behaviours which they can learn to "turn on" whenever they need them. Many managers have attended these workshops and told us how valuable they found the work, in all areas of their life.
There is a limit to what can be acheived in a single workshop, and while we recommend that the group size is small enough to allow individual coaching for everyone, and while we give follow-up "homework", in most cases reaching your full charismatic potential means work with the same coach over a longer period of time.
Add to this the fact that senior people are often hard to get together at the same time, and a one-to-one coaching programme becomes a much more valuable and efficient way for managers to learn these essential skills.
Typically, manager and coach would meet once or twice a month for one to three hours. At the beginning of each session, progress to date would be reviewed. During the session, the coach will suggest exercises, explain concepts and work on role-plays. Sometimes these are facilitated with additional actors, or with a video camera for future reference. At the end of the session, goals are agreeed which the manager can try out before the next session.
