The Importance of Storytelling

People will only listen to facts and figures for so long, but we all have an insatiable appetite for stories. Learn to structure your presentations using the principles of storytelling which have remained true for thousands of years, and you will always hold your audience spellbound.

How The Cake Factor works

This half-day session will allow you to explore the content of your presentations and the way you shape that content. There's a reason why people would rather watch Die Hard than a documentary or lecture about crime in their own area. That reason is story. In this session you will learn how to use story to your advantage, even making the listener the hero of your presentation.

You will also learn how to take abstract formal language and turn it into vivid, colourful, visual language which allows the listener to imagine everything you are saying and take away clear memories from your presentation or contribution to a meeting. This module will require mental rigour, is incredibly challenging and will change your powers of communication forever.

• Identify and make good use of the tools of storytellers to add structure and interest to their presentations
• Make intelligent decisions about what to leave out and what to emphasise when writing presentations
• Be less reliant on PowerPoint slides and more confident about communicating their personality
• Better able to add appropriate humour
