Q&A: MARK MEER

Mark, how long have you improvised?
I've been improvising since 1992, when I worked with Canadian comedy troupe Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie at the Citadel Theatre's Teen Festival of the Arts.
What one piece of advice should an improviser remember before they go on stage?
Make the other guy look good.
What's your favourite improv memory?
The Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon, an annual 53 hour long show produced in Edmonton. I was the first performer to complete the entire thing without any sleep back in 1995. Not sure if that counts as a memory, since my recollections are somewhat fuzzy... I've "gone the distance" at the Soap-A-Thon nine more times since then.
What's coming up for you?
I'm currently recording the voice of the main character in "Mass Effect", a new video game from the good folks at Bioware Corp. It should be out in the next year or so.
If people are in Canada why should they stop by Rapid Fire for shows and workshops?
If they're in Canada, they'll need somewhere to hide from the biting cold and ravenous bears.
How many degrees of separation between you and Kevin Bacon?
2 (It's true!)
Would you rather receive an Oscar or wield a light saber?
Armed with a light saber, I could probably force Tom Hanks to give me one of his Oscars.
